Support For Our Aging Community

Department of Aging and Community Services offers support to older adults, adults with disabilities, family caregivers, and residents in long-term care facilities. This department is dedicated to promoting independent living within the community, healthy aging, and active community involvement.



 

Adult Protective Services
San Joaquin County's Adult Protective Services (APS) provides critical support to safeguard vulnerable adults from abuse and neglect, ensuring their safety and dignity.
Caregiver Support
The Department of Aging offers a wide variety of services for caregivers such as caregiver respite, providing temporary assistance to help take care of your loved one in the home, or with in-home help you may need to perform chores and homemaker tasks.

San Joaquin County helps older adults live safely and stay active in their community. Our services support older adults by offering the help they need to live well and stay healthy.

IHSS
In Home Supportive Services (IHSS) is a federal, state, and locally funded program designed to provide assistance to eligible aged, blind, and disabled individuals who, without this care, would be unable to remain safely in their own homes, and would be at risk of being placed in a care facility.
Ombudsman
The Ombudsman Program provides a number of critical services. Ombudsman act as the eyes and ears for residents in long-term care facilities such as Skilled Nursing Facilities, Assisted Living Facilities or Licensed Board and Care homes.



Funding for services related to older adults 60+ years is primarily from the Federal Older Americans Act ( Area Plan )

The Area Agency on Aging is supported by the Administration for Community Living (ACL), Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). A total of $2,827,391, or 48 percent, of the programs will be financed by Federal funds, and $3,063,582 or 52 percent, will be funded by other resources.

Interpreter services are available at no cost.
